APOCALYPTICA plays Metallica full set at ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST
APOCALYPTICA, the Finnish quartet formed in 1993 at the Sibelius Academy, is coming to ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST to perform a full Metallica set. This follows the release of their acclaimed album 'Plays Metallica, Vol. 2,' a passionate and innovative homage to one of metal’s greatest bands.
Originally a lo-fi tribute by four classically trained musicians, APOCALYPTICA’s project took on a life of its own with their 1996 debut 'Plays Metallica By Four Cellos.' Founding member Eicca Toppinen explains that the new album challenged the band to bring fresh energy and emotion to Metallica’s music while honoring its original spirit.
Produced by Joe Barresi, known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age and Tool, 'Plays Metallica, Vol. 2' features a special collaboration with Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo and includes a powerful rendition of 'The Four Horsemen.' Drummer Mikko Sirén, who has been with the band for years, departs amicably after this album, marking a unique milestone.
APOCALYPTICA’s performance at ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST promises to be a must-see event for metal fans, blending classical musicianship with the raw power of Metallica’s legendary catalog.
Tickets and payment plans are available here and now on the Official Festival Website.
