Formed in the Netherlands in 1987, ASPHYX has long been one of death metal’s most ruthlessly idiosyncratic bands. Their sound masterfully blends fast, furious extremity with some of the most claustrophobic, slow-motion doom ever recorded.
ASPHYX opened their legendary career with the 1991 classic 'The Rack' and have consistently delivered albums that stand heavier and more intense than much of the surrounding metal scene. After a hiatus that began around the millennium, the band reunited in 2007 with renewed passion for doom-laden death metal.
