Newcastle-based quartet CREAK has launched their latest single and accompanying music video, 'A Head Full of Rain'. A starkly captivating track, it is the second to be unveiled from the band's anticipated debut album, 'Depth Perception', set to drop on August 18 via Prosthetic Records. This fresh nu-metalcore release showcases a unique blend of genres and draws inspiration from the edgy aesthetics of the nineties. The engaging music video was directed by Joe Guppy.
CREAK's guitarist, Reece 'Moose' Boakes, sheds light on the creation process of 'A Head Full of Rain'. Initially crafted as the concluding track for the album without any intention of it being a single, it eventually morphed into a time-stamp capturing the band's evolution during the album's recording and the direction they plan to take with future projects.
Speaking on the lyrical and tonal depth of the track, vocalist Jack Dunn touches upon personal experiences of fear and struggle watching his mother's battle with cancer. Desiring a raw and direct approach, this song takes a step away from the art-house horror filter and vivid imagery prevalent in the rest of the album, providing an unfiltered emotional outlet.
Despite the initial aim to create a follow-up EP to their 2020's well-received 'Bitter Picture', the creativity overflowed, resulting in the debut album 'Depth Perception'. Enriched with influences such as Yüth Forever and Sworn In, their hardcore roots shine through, complemented by Lynchian interludes, clean vocals, and metallic nuances. CREAK's innovative vision continues to inspire and captivate their fans.
