SIGH, the cult Japanese black metal band, is back with a mystical journey through their roots with the release of ‘A Victory of Dakini’ from their upcoming live album ‘Live: Eastern Forces of Evil 2022’. The album captures a recent performance in Japan featuring the band's original underground live release ‘The Eastern Force of Evil’. ‘A Victory of Dakini’ is derived from SIGH’s debut album ‘Scorn Defeat’ and showcases the band’s early style, blending Japanese cultural elements with death metal.
‘A Victory of Dakini’ is an enthralling track that begins with ominous chanting and transitions into SIGH’s signature death metal crawl. The song is a tribute to the Japanese goddess Dakini, who according to Buddhist religion, rides on a white fox. The track was inspired by the Japanese manga ‘Kujaku-ou’, which was published in the late 1980s and features oriental occultism. This manga was a significant inspiration behind SIGH’s early material. SIGH’s mainman Mirai Kawashima elaborates that the song has a ‘magic feeling’ that is both primitive and simpler compared to their current work but holds a special place as the opening track of their debut album.
SIGH’s ‘Live: Eastern Forces of Evil 2022’ will be available in 2 disc CD/DVD set, LP, and digitally. It is a must-have for both new listeners and long-time fans as it offers a journey through the band’s history and evolution. The live album is set to feature a mix of styles with an injection of eastern flair, reminiscent of their old-school metal roots.
