Texas-based death metal outfit, THROAT LOCUST, has released a new single titled 'gifted the grave', an explosive follow-up to their applauded EP, 'Dragged Through Glass'. Renowned for their blend of hardcore-infused death metal, this new release is poised to overwhelm even the most battle-hardened of pit bosses, delivering two relentless minutes of head-bashing, full-force onslaught.
THROAT LOCUST came into being at the dawn of 2022, brought together by a shared desire to create impactful death metal that carries the distinctive groove of Texas. This drive was stoked by the band's experience at Knotfest 2021, where Gatecreeper's electrifying performance left a deep impression on Eric Calvert of Switchblade Jesus. Inspired to capture that exhilarating energy in his own music, Eric rallied his Corpus Christi comrades Rob Cantu, Adrian Cavazos, Alex Gregory, and Gil Perez of Filth Embedded, to craft some seriously sick riffs and heavy insanity.
Driven by their love for the music that fueled their younger years, THROAT LOCUST made their way into the Harbor City Sound Lab with Bryan Garcia in the summer of 2022. There, they recorded their debut demo, 'Dragged Through Glass', a fiery fusion of old-school death metal, thrash, and hardcore that was soon unleashed upon the world. With singles such as 'axe grinder', 'corruption and greed', and 'death lurker', they've already received rave reviews, and their latest offering, 'gifted the grave', is set to keep that positive momentum going.
