Heavy metal force from Sweden, LANCER, is set to globally release their fourth studio album 'Tempest' on August 11th, 2023. Coinciding with this announcement, they unveil their initial single and lyric video, 'Fan the Flames'.

'You will recognize all the elements LANCER stands for, but also hear a new intensity and execution in the music. Being the first new song released with new vocalist Jack Stroem, it will of course bring a totally new feeling as well. The topic of the song tells about a person putting up a facade covering up his own living hell', says guitarist Fredrik Kelemen. He further mentions, 'We have developed our sound, it’s a bit darker, especially lyrically. Production-wise, more dynamic and gritty. A bigger picture of sound, with elements we have never used before.'
The spring of 2012 marked LANCER's entrance to the metal scene with their debut EP 'Purple Sky', earning a warm reception globally and scoring them a deal with Swedish label Doolittle Group AB, owned by renowned metal vocalist Christian Liljegren of Narnia, as well as Japanese label King Records.
Their self-titled debut album, 'Lancer', released globally in early 2013, was produced by Tommy Johansson (Sabaton, Majestica) and Ronny Milianowicz (Shadowquest, ex-Dionysus). The album garnered impressive reviews globally, including praise from 'Sweden Rock Magazine', calling the band 'a new hope for European power metal'.
Their follow-up album 'Second Storm' was a testament to Swedish melodic metal tradition, aligning LANCER with the likes of HammerFall, Morgana Lefay, Dream Evil, Tad Morose, and more. The album, produced by Gustav Ydenius at the famed 'Leon Music Studios' and released through Despotz Records in April 2015, earned LANCER rave reviews and the tag of 'future successors to the throne of melodic metal'. The band also toured with German power metal group Freedom Call, receiving a warm reception from fans!
After signing a new record deal with prominent German metal label Nuclear Blast Records, LANCER was back in 'Leon Music Studios' with producer Gustav Ydenius to record their third album in summer 2016. The album was mastered by world-renowned mastering engineer Miro Rodenberg of 'Gate Studio', Wolfsburg, Germany. Their third album 'Mastery' was released worldwide in January 2017, post which LANCER embarked on a European tour, supporting HammerFall and Gloryhammer, followed by a debut performance at the prestigious 'Sabaton Open Air' festival.
Following the departures of singer Isak Stenvall and drummer Sebastian Pedernera, LANCER welcomed new members, vocalist Jack L. Stroem (Vandor), and drummer Pontus Andrén, making the line-up stronger than ever.
Fredrik Kelemen's remark about the new members, 'Finding both Jack and Pontus seems like a one-in-a-million hit! Jack with his powerful and diverse voice, and Pontus’ technical brilliance and groove made them a perfect fit for the band'. The new vocalist Jack's excitement is palpable, 'Words cannot describe how excited I am to unveil the music on the new album, my LANCER brethren have pushed my abilities as a singer tenfold and I am so happy with the end result'. Pontus, the new drummer, expressed his delight, 'It feels great to be part of this next chapter for LANCER. “Tempest” is an exciting new direction for the band, while it still keeps some of the elements of the old material which I love.'
Mark your calendars for August 11th, 2023, as 'tempest' makes its grand entrance on the global stage. Be ready for a potent strike of metal straight from Sweden!
The formidable line-up of LANCER includes Jack L. Stroem on vocals, Per-Owe 'Ewo' Solvelius on the guitar, Fredrik Kelemen with his power-packed guitar, Emil Öberg adding his magic on the bass, and Pontus Andrén bringing the rhythm on the drums.
