WARDRUNA returns to ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST with haunting new sounds

Probably no other ritual fits better in the heart of the Transylvanian forests and mountains than the arrival of WARDRUNA at next year's ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST. The band’s beautiful, dark, and haunting music blends global folk traditions, ancient instruments, rock, and ambient sounds, yet transcends all these labels.
Formed in 2003, WARDRUNA draws deeply from Nordic traditions, using regional instruments such as deer-hide frame drums, flutes, kraviklyr, jouhikko, and goat horn. Their acclaimed Runaljod trilogy, released between 2009 and 2016, was inspired by ancient runes, while their soundtrack work for the historical drama TV series Vikings brought their sound to a wider audience.
In 2021, WARDRUNA explored themes of sorcery, spirit animals, and animism on the multiple-charting album Kvitravn. They began 2024 with the pulsing single 'Hertan,' signaling the start of a new creative cycle.
Joining WARDRUNA at ROCKSTADT EXTREME FEST 2025 are renowned names like Gojira, Powerwolf, Within Temptation, Emperor, As I Lay Dying, Obituary, Static-X, DevilDriver, Wind Rose, The Kovenant (Nexus Polaris set), Bane, Fit For A King, Dying Fetus, Midnight, and Night Demon. The festival promises three stages over five days, shaping up to be a historic edition.
For younger fans, the Teen Full Pass is available for attendees aged 12-18 at 111 Euros via the official website. Ticket holders must be under 18 on the event's start date to qualify.
