AC/DC: Thousands of fans celebrate the life of Bon Scott at Bonfest 2022

An absolute must for any AC/DC fan, Bonfest is a 3-day festival celebrating the life of Bon Scott, lead singer of the legendary Australian rock band AC/DC. Held in his hometown of Kirriemuir, Scotland, it includes live music from tribute bands and guest appearances during an annual event that has since grown to include stalls and entertainment for all ages.

Bonfest with its promise of rock, great food and drink, and plenty of memories on offer certainly delivered. Not to mention a great excuse to leave behind dreary old England for a break filled with real rock fans from across the world.

Ronald Belford Scott, known in the entire world as Bon Scott, was born on July 9, 1946, in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. His family emigrated to Australia when he was just 6 years old. He fronted several bands before joining AC/DC in 1974. He was the lead singer of the Australian band from 1974 to 1980 until his untimely death. Although he died young, Bon’s influence and love for music had an impact on people all over the world to this day. Following a night out in London, Bon Scott passed out and died during the late evening of February 18 and early morning of February 19, 1980. He was 33.
