US-based black metal quintet, NIXIL, presents a fresh single and music video, 'Abyss Unto Abyss', from their forthcoming album 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire'. This track, the third single from their sophomore album, comes accompanied by a music video produced by the band themselves, hailing from Baltimore, Maryland.
'Abyss Unto Abyss' is available for streaming on various platforms like Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Bandcamp, and Spotify. The new album is also up for pre-order.
Sharing some insights into the single and music video, NIXIL states, 'Abyss Unto Abyss' came into existence during a phase of intense insomnia which resulted in a state of lucid sleep. The track is a channeled poem that reflects on how to utilize these sometimes distressing altered states of consciousness to stimulate personal evolution and navigate the vast realms beyond our everyday existence.'
NIXIL's reputation has grown since their 2021 debut 'All Knots Untied'. They've steadily built a devoted fan base through live performances across the US, sharing the stage with bands such as Hulder, Evoken, Molder, Yatra, and making an appearance at the Maryland Deathfest 2022. Their time on the road has honed their collective musicianship and solidified NIXIL’s commitment to unity and authenticity, particularly evident in the creation of 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire'.
The band's take on black metal's sonic edges presents a radical departure from secular interpretations of the genre. With the arrival of guitarist/backing vocalist Alden solidifying their line-up, NIXIL decided to record 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire' live at Magpie Cage Recording Studio with J. Robbins.
Their latest offering moves beyond invocation and manifestation. 'From the Wound Spilled Forth Fire' is an invitation for those bound by earthly conventions to cast off the shackles of outdated traditions and guilt, and shatter the illusion of the self. The six tracks seethe with frenzied despair and carry a chilling existential terror in every rhythmically meditative trance, just as the band intended before passing mastering duties to James Plotkin.
